Knocking noise then machine becomes jammed

Parts Database Search

It happens quite often, there the machine is stitching fine, then all of a sudded, it becomes jammed with the needle down and you can not pull the fabric out.

The most lightly issue, is the thread has jumped out from the top tension, causing a no thread tension situation. Hence the thread wraps around the bobbin case and jams the sewing machine rotaion.

To remove jammed fabric from under the presser foot

Firstly, switch the power off to the sewing amchine.

Loosen the needle, snip the thread and pull the needle out.

Because the thread will wrapped around the bobbin case, the needle plate will have to be removed, to gain access o the bobbin case. Once you can see the bobbin case, you shold be able to snip the threads and slowly and with care, remove the bobbin case.

Inspect the bobbin case, very closly if it is the plastic type. Look for tiny indentations around the edge, or marks where the needle may have damaged the smooth bobbin case edge. If it show any signs of damage, it will need to be replaced.

Dont try to use a damaged bobbin case in your sewing machine, it will lead to more problems, and probably knock the timing out of sync.
