I am very pleased with my new Singer 5523 Sewing Machine and am finding it very easy to operate. I have only had it a week but so far have been very impressed with its performance. I have also found various, new-to-me, features, such as the needle threader, see-through bobbin cover plate and side thread cutter, very helpful. The next day delivery was also much appreciated. A very satisfied customer!

Absolutely love this new sewing machine. Easy to order, swiftly delivered and brilliant communication. I wanted to add something to the order after payment and after speaking to Singer the process to do that went very smoothly. Very pleased with how easy the machine is to use and it is heavy duty! Only couple of things I think could be improved would be to increase the weight of the start stop foot pedal thing, I am constantly chasing it with my foot under the table as it is so lightweight. The needle threader is brilliant but not always consistent. Great idea though! Would I recommend buying a singer and this model; definitely! Singer still has it after decades of excellence.

Great machine, does everything I need it to do

I borrowed a machine from my neighbour to do a job that my existing machine couldn't cope with. I expected it to be clunky and harder to use than my computerised machine... however! It's absolutely a dream to use, I'm used to automatic tension and expected to have problems with a manual - not at all! It sews in a straight line much more easily than my other, which puzzled me until I investigated what a box feed was, and all became clear. I love the needle threader, a feature that didn't work on my other machine. The manual is very straightforward and easy to access online - I prefer a hard copy, so I printed it out. A minor detail but I have found it to be a boon - the thread cutter is on the side, where I can see it, as opposed to being hidden away on the back. It has 3 needle positions as opposed to 2, which I can fine tune further with the stitch width dial. Marvellous! It's a great price. Also, when I set the stitch and length I need, It stays set when I turn the machine off and go back to it later!! Very useful selection of feet included. My machine arrived with 2 free gifts that would enable a beginner to start work immediately without needing to buy anything else. Now 2 points that are minor but easily remedied by the manufacturer (I think) - the spool holders that keep the cotton on its spindle are a bit loose, and have a tendency to come off when I use a fast speed, eg when filling a bobbin! very disconcerting. The foot pedal is very light, and slips around on my wooden floor. I think I can sort it with some anti slip stuff from under my rug, but still, some non slip feet woud be good. It's an excellent machine, and I'm extremely happy with it, I heartily recommend it to anyone.

I've not really used this machine a lot as yet, I've only done a few alterations, so difficult to really comment. However, this machine does feel like good quality and sewing is a lot quicker and the stitching is more consistent.

Absolutely love this machine. Seems very solid and robust. Sewing straight out of the box, all set up and ready to go, simple clear instructions. Loading the bobbin is a little fiddly, as the lid opens very close to the foot, but not a big deal. Took up some trousers and it powered through the thick folded bit with ease. Looking forward to many years of use out of this machine.
