I purchased the Singer 4423 heavy duty sewing machine after a lot of research. I am beginner about to start college and also take private sewing lessons as I have always loved fashion and wanted to also have another skill as aside my corporate work skills. From my research and reviews, this model of machine is very good for beginners. I hope to love learning how to sew with it.

Arrived on time the day after ordering. Smooth running and quiet. The heavy weight material capability I wanted it for is yet to be tested. First project is a Victorian bustle skirt in satin fabrics. Really happy with the stitching so far.

I absolutely love this machine, it sews thick upholstery fabric like a knife through butter. It's well worth the money and very well built and will outlast any computerised models. It's much quieter than my old sewing machine and so much faster thanks to the more powerful motor. I was worried I would still need a separate serger for sewing stretch knits, but the stretch stitches combined with a walking foot work wonderfully for sewing t-shirts. Brilliant!

I am really happy with my new sewing machine. It's so easy to set up and use and is a lovely sturdy machine. I haven't got to grips with the needle threader but in fact the needle is really easy to thread without it. My only issue is the thread sometimes comes out of the needle eye so have to rethread the machine - but that might be user error

Bought as a gift from my daughter as I was having difficulty threading the needle on my 40-year-old Elna. This seems ideal as it has an automatic needle threader. Not had chance yet to give it a good test
