Singer Tradition 2263 Sewing Machine
The Tradition range of Singer sewing machines are as the name suggests, are more of a conventional shape with strong mechanical internals. The 2263 uses an aluminium chassis as a reliable and trouble free platform to build upon.
This is the Singer 2263 Tradition and it features 23 stitches, which include utility, decorative, home decor, dressmaking and repair stitches. For example, as well as stretch overlock stitch, it has a straight stretch. The machine sews two stitches forward and one stitch backwards hence it can be used for top stitching, a very strong seam repair or used to sew modern stretch materials together. The stitch will stretch with the material as it is sewn.
Button holes are the 4 step type which are sewn using the special sliding presser foot, which is included. Often this type of button hole is quicker to set up and start sewing button holes on garments. It is simple...turn the dial in the sequence as shown on the images 1, 2, 3 and 4 finishes the buttonhole bartack.
It is suited to anyone who wants to enjoy creative sewing and needs the option of doing buttonholes if needed. The Singer 2263 weighs in at only 8.5Kg, so is very transportable using the large lift up handle located at the rear.
Pattern width and length can be set to 5mm and 4mm respectively.
The Singer 2263 uses the front loading bobbin as used on many of the traditional sewing machines of the past. This type of hook and bobbin system is called the 15K type. I'm sure you will have heard of this at some stage. It is a reliable and well proven system and gives a good solid lockstitch to any seam.
Other features we like is the reverse lever location, which is just above the needle. Push down to reverse is far superior than the push rearward button, which often rocks the machine, as the reverse button is pressed. Not the case when using the Singer Tradition 2263. Three needle positions for accurate seams and neater zip insertion.
Although it can sew at speeds up to 800 spm, the speed is electronically controlled by using the foot pedal. This special foot control allows full power to the motor, even at a slow controllable speed.
We have the full selection of accessories and attachments for all kinds of specialist sewing techniques like the even food foot that quilt makers use.
Accessories included are instruction book, spare bobbins, extra needles, thread discs, zig-zag foot, zipper foot, button sewing-on foot, seam ripper and lint cleaning brush. Feed cover plate and a soft dust cover.

I am very happy with my first ever sewing machine. It is compact and lightweight and easy to use. I even managed by accident to remove the presser foot and replaced it without having to resort to the instruction manual. Really looking forward to creating dance costumes and seeing just how well it performs with slippery fabrics and stretch fabric. So far I have just had a play around, but I love it! Would definitely recommend as a first machine for someone wanting to get into making their own clothes.
So far I have only done repairs and had a play with this machine but it does look simple to operate. The needle threaded is a bonus. It is very light so is easy to take to craft classes. I am very pleased with it. Delivery was excellent too. Well done singer
I am thoroughly delighted with my new machine - it is an absolute pleasure to use. Delivery was prompt and efficient and I would have no hesitation in recommending both machine and company.
I am an absolute beginner to sewing, but the machine seems easily manageable for my capabilities. Looking forward to my journey to sewing.
The machine does all it is supposed to do. Not the best but certainly not the worse on the market. Overall quite pleased and value for the money
Very speedy delivery. Machine easy to use after initial practice, referring to a clear instruction booklet. Lightweight especially when compared with my (very) old machine! Pity it didn't come with blind hem and overcast feet but will order to add to the tasks I want to do with the machine. Very good value overall and excellent service. Appreciated the free gift, especially the set of scissors.
I have purchased my 2263 Singer without the automatic threader and twin needle feature. I chose this machine as i have been reading it online the feautures however i was disapointed not having what i wanted. It does not come with it? do i have to upgrade it and buy separately?? help!!!!! (STAFF - I see you did not purchase the machine from us. The answer to your question... Yes, the 2263 we supply does have an automatic needle threader)
I am extremely happy with my purchase of a new Singer sewing machine from your company.
Your on-line product descriptions were clear and complete, ordering was very easy, and your free next-day delivery was wonderful.
The sewing machine is exactly what I wanted, and the owners manual gives detailed explanations of features and instructions for use. It has been a pleasure to deal with you.
So far, I am very happy with the product, despite my problems at first. I also like the whole look of the design, and it isnt terribly bulky, even sitting on my small desk, and once I got it all figured out, Ive found that it is easy to use, and makes my sewing much easier. I would recommend this product, especially since it was fairly inexpensive.
