Singer 9960 Sewing Machine
The Quantum Stylist 9960 is a computerised sewing machine from Singer which makes sewing simple and easy by incorporating novel and extremely useful functions.
It has over 1000 stitches in total including lettering. 13 types of one-step buttonhole and precise hems can be achieved by adjusting the needle position in one of 25 positions across its 7 mm wide zig-zag swing. We can go on to say the 9960 measures the fabric thickness being sewn under its presser foot, then instantly adjusts the thread tension to allow only the right amount of thread out for the setting for the chosen stitch... but I'm sure you want to know more about how it sews and not about how technically advance it is.
However, I will go on to say one more thing about the manufacturing processes involved to produce the perfect sewn stitch. For most sewing machines, when it comes to buttonholes, they sew down one leg then sew reverse back down the other leg. Not the case with the Singer Quantum Stylist 9960. It sews each leg of the buttonhole in the same direction, giving perfect alignment for each side.
LCD screen is easy to view even whilst seated. It is angled upwards towards the user's eye. Choose the most used stitches at the touch of a button, or use the arrow key to scroll through the various patterns. Patterns can be edited on-screen and elongated by up to 5 times its original length. Utility, decorative, quilting, heirloom, alphabets can be stored in the machines memory.
Thread ends can be cut automatically at the touch of a button, no need to get the scissors out at the end of each seam. The Singer Quantum Stylist 9960 even has a stitch locking function to tie-off thread ends automatically.
From snipping thread ends to nearly threading its own needles, this computerised sewing machine is a real treat to own and use. Any seamstress or quilt maker would fall in love with it. Included are a very good range of feet, and the extension table comes in to good use when sewing larger type quilts or curtains.

I originally bought this through Amazon and was very upset that it was the American version so I had to send it back. I had phoned Singer and they were really helpful and gave me the phone number of a chap who demonstrates them and could sell me a UK version. Sadly I had to pay out an additional £150 but it was worth it.
I love the fact that it has speed control. My only grip is the measurements on the metal plate are hard to see and I have to get my ruler out. They do not match up to the ruler on the front of the machine.
I have only had this for a few weeks and already I have made several projects.
I can make household items easily but I am having a go at dressmaking for the first time and enjoying it very much. Great machine for someone who likes to take it slow.
Ordered via internet and machine was delivered very quickly.
I have just started to look into what I can do re stitching for my patchworl/quilting and I am pleased to see lots of embroidery stitches suitable to use on my crazy patchwork.
This is my first new machine and I am very pleased with it and all the attachments. Having had a basic, second hand Brother machine for a while I cannot wait to discover my joy of sewing again.
I watched YouTube, Valerie, Singer Sewing Company - its about half an hour long but well worth watching - just put in Model and make and it brings it up. Got lost with some of the feet attachments but its all explained in the video.
Great service prompt delivery even over the Christmas period . All present and correct. Can’t wait to get started
Great machine. Worth every penny :)
As a previous owner of a 760 Singer machine I wanted to go a step ahead as I am into quilting !This is a quality machine . Easy to set up and stitches beautifully. I am on the steep learning curve of finding out what it can do ..... which is just about everything an all round sewer would ever want! Really thrilled with my purchase and if it performs like my other trusted one then I shall be more than happy!
Delivery was on time and as instructed. If you want quality then look no further.
This machine replaced a Bernina 830 Electronic that I have had for 37 years. I've never used a computerised sewing machine before but I didn't find the Singer 9960 complicated. I used it the day it arrived; found the instruction book easy to follow and the machine is very quiet in operation.
The machine came with lots of accessories and the additional complementary gifts were a very nice surprise and very much appreciated.
I have not dealt with this company before but I found them very professional. They provided good communication and the delivery was very quick and completed as advised.
I will buy from them again: highly recommended.
Excelent machine, quiet and efficient.
I've had my 9960 for just over a week now and I am delighted with it. It sews like a dream, is very quiet and looks lovely. There are lots of useful extras including presser feet, bobbins and machine needles. The abundance of different stitches is mind-blowing and I am not finished going through them all yet. The instruction booklet is good and I can also find lots of useful videos online to help me. This machine is far and above the best one I have ever used and for the price appears to do a lot more than other brands, which is another reason I bought it. Overall I would highly recommend the Singer 9960 sewing machine.
I brought this machine about 3 years ago. I had been wanting a machine for years and finally bit the bullet and decided I wanted to buy the best machine that I could afford. When I first got it I was over the moon, it stitched like a dream, then disaster struck. I couldn't get it to stitch properly for love nor money. I finally gave up and the machine was relegated to the spare bedroom. I didn't dare tell the other half. Then about 18 months ago I was flicking through the TV channels and saw a lady from Singer demonstrating new machines. She was talking about the common problems people have when they call the Singer help line. I listened with interest only to find out that most stitch problems were caused by the threading of the machine, and sometimes the use of poor quality cotton. I was a little sceptical, but I brought some good quality cotton, replaced the cotton in the bobbin and re-threaded the machine and since that day my machine has worked like a dream. It has coped easily with making quilts, bags, hemming curtains, altering a dress and taking up trousers. I now wouldn't be without it. Despite my unhappy start, I would be more than happy to recommend this machine and the words of wisdom from the lovely Sue at Singers helpline!
This machine appears to be a good machine. However, I find the manual very poor and I had to phone the Singer help line on one occasion as there was no mention in the manual on how to move the needle to the right. I felt a little better after speaking to the very helpful young lady at Singer, as she also didn't at first know how to achieve what I was seeking. She phoned me back after she had got one of the machines in front of her and talked me through what I was seeking. I cannot find fault with the help line at Singer or the machine, but I wish I hadn't purchased this machine. I'm a Pfaff and Brother devotee, but felt I wanted to try a Singer, but it is not for me.
