Singer Foot Control/Motor Capacitor
This part is called a capacitor or often called a condenser, its is used inside the foot control of a sewing machine, or its motor or inside the off/on switch. From time to time it will burn out and need to be replaced, usually when it burns our you will get a strong smell with a puff of smoke.
We will not list the machines this will fit as there are thousands, if you need advice please call us.
This capacitor is approx 17mm x 10mm x 4 mm deep. It most probably will not look the same shape as the original one you need to replace, but it will do the same job when fitted correctly.
Also please note, because this part is now not manufactured by a sewing machine manufacture it is sourced else where and may have shorter leads than the image or original. The short lead type is ideal for fitting on to motor PCB's, but the leads may need to be extended for fitting into foot controls.

My wife has an old Singer 99k electric sewing machine which she loves, but as described by several others in these posts, the machine just kept running on as soon as it was plugged in and switched on.
I Googled the problem and saw that the most likely cause was a blown capacitor in the foot pedal. On closer inspection, the one in our foot pedal looked as if it had blown, but it was a completely different shape to the ones shown on the website, ours being long and cylindrical, the one on the website being a small thin rectangular shape.
I rang the Singer help-line and the chap I spoke to said that they now only supply the one type and that as far as he knew, the new version had solved the large majority of similar problems, so I ordered one of the new capacitors and it came a couple of days later in the post.
Fortunately, by folding out the 'pins' or legs, completely flat (90 deg to their supplied position) I was just able to fit the new capacitor without the need to solder any extensions and hey presto, it works perfect.
For less than £5 including 99p p&p we had solved the problem.
I got my 50 year old machine up and running again after ordering from your site. Really pleased!
I had the same problem as others have mentioned- my machine started running flat put with smoke coming from the foot pedal.
Ancient sewing machine up and running again. Excellent service at a very competitive price. Thank you Singermachines!
Absolute A+ !!! Never knew what was wrong until I read these reviews and found one which matched mine with the problem ! So ordered and put it in within seconds, no problem at all doing it, and after a year I have my machine up and running again !! No instructions needed at all to put it in , so easy. Thank you Singers !!
I cannot understand why some people need instructions ?? I am 67 lady and did it fine.
(Singer foot pedal relay)
Looks different to the original, works the same tho.
I fitted the relay to my singer 527 foot pedal as the old 1 had burnt out which lets a awfull smell off , so was obvious what the problem was easy fix 3 screws one is located under sponge on the underside of ft pedal and two on either side of the rely , IF U ARE NOT CONFIDENT IN ELECTRICS TAKE TO A SHOP )as there is a danger to electrocution or fire if not done properly
A truly good seller would recommend them to everyone.

The foot pedal of a 1978 era Singer had been emitting a burning smell, and after a brief while the sewing machine would over-run to full speed. The replacement capacitor arrived within two working days and took only two minutes to fit. The problem was fully resolved at a very modest cost. Excellent service!
Service was excellent. The part was the correct value, but the component leads a little short. Easily fixed however by soldering a couple of ring terminals onto the leads.
