80%Excellent value for money. Very easy to set up and use in sewing mode. Wide range of different stitches that will take me a while to get to investigate properly. Good build quality. For the basic sewing mode the Star rating should be a 5, but it came down to a 4 because of some gripes with the software. I work in IT, so picking up a new piece of software fo rme is very easy. However this means that I wanted to skip over the introductory how to use Windows bits and get straight into the detail, but the online manual wasnt organised in a manner that made that easy. The are quite a few spealling and grammar mistakes in the mnaual, and there are also a lot of spelling mistakes in the software. This cant be simply a mistake in translation since some words (e.g. transmission) are correct in some places but not in others. However the major gripe is that the sewing machine has to be turned on and connected before the software will run. This is not very environmentally friendly, since it means that a lot of people will leave the machine on while spending several hours creating their design. I have since discovered that you can turn the machine off as soon as it has started, but there is no mention of that in the manual.

80%This was purchased as my first machine as a birthday present, and I find it really easy to use. I too agree that a heavier cover would be better for storage purposes. The 2273 is easy to use and the instruction book is clear and easy to follow. I would recommend this as a first machine to anyone.

80%I learned to sew on my moms Singer. This singer is almost identical (functionally) to her Singer which she purchased over 30 years ago (with more features, stitch designs, etc). Singer sewing machines are so logically designed - the mechanics are obviously proven to work if there are so few changes over the span of 30 years! Im very happy with the 2273. Id have given it 5 stars if the picture in the manual showed how to load the bobbin a little bit better.

80%I simply love this machine. both for ordinary sewing and embroidery. I am a quilter and usually have three sewing machines, but since buying this I have sold the other three. I have found the performance of the machine excellent, and have had no real problems with the software itself just a few gripes with the manual. Well worth the money.

100%I sew for a living and have finally run my old faithful 20+year old singers to death. I wanted a heavy, solid machine with just the basic stitches and the 2273 seems to fit the bill, with a few add ons. I like the disengage switch on the handwheel for bobbin winding, the decorative stretch stitches and the one step button hole function which seems to work best on heavier fabric. My one complaint so far is that the curved shape below the flat bed means the machine tilts if you apply too much pressure feeding fabric through. It will be used constantly and time will tell if it is up to the job. I did phone for advice and must say I am very satisfied with the level of service from this site.

80%I have just received my new Singer futura ce 250 and it is superb. It stitches out embroidery designs very well and bigger than my Brother PE150. The software included didnt load on the first attempt, however now it works as it should. I can create my own machine embroidery and work untill after midnight again. The button holes and normal sewing stitches function well. Overall it is very good value for the money.

60%After much internet investigation decided upon the CE250 (mainly because old old machine (Melodie 20) is singer and loved it. I was very eager to get going but the beep beep beep is driving me up the wall (internal computer) The embroidery unit works brillant with the included designs but have spent hours trying to get it to embroider pictures that I have drawn using the autopunch (simple pictures as I am no artist). The stitching jumps from left to right with no logic leaving me with lots of unnecessary threads to cut off. Ordinary sewing works fine but on setting width and lenght of the satin stitch needs always to be tested. The widest differs from time to time in which case the machine needs to be switched on and off. I chose the machine because I love my PC and had great hope for joining it to a sewing machine but have to wonder for the money is there better out there?

100%I had a terrible problem with the installation of the Futura software having bought it a month ago. The problem as it turns out is nothing to do with Singer but Microsoft who sent out an updagte to XP which conflicted with the software. There is a simple solution in deleting this update and now my machine and its software functions marvellously. I adore my new machine and am just a little worried that my work and house will fall into disrepair, as I spend hours having fun designing and experimenting. Thanks especially to the guys at Singer Machines for their help and patience in discovering what the cause of our problem was and finding a solution.

100%I bought my Futura in April and love it! I agree there are some things that could be improved but for the price I think it works great. I have a question though- hopefully someone can help me. Id like to combine designs on one file but I cant figure out how to do it. For example, I purchased some applique alphabets online but can only embroider one letter at a time. Id like to be able to embroider a whole word at once. I heard I could buy software to achieve this and dont want to spend that if its something already included in the software. Any suggestions? As for Kims question regarding the zipper foot...you can purchase one from this site. Just type in the model. You can either get one that just pops on and off the existing sewing shank or buy one with a different shank that you would screw on and off like the embroidery foot(which would be a pain to take on and off).
