Free motion embroidery is the process of creating embroidery using an ordinary sewing machine and fabric in an embroidery hoop or while holding the fabric taught.
Usally used while quilting the free machine embroidery is, with practice, fun and easy. An foot helps by holding the fabric down against the throat plate while nevertheless being minimal.

Overall rating I bought this foot for my Singer 9910. It is great for free hand embroidery, although the technique takes a little time to perfect. Stippling is so easy, just go where ever you want. Great too for darning areas that are bigger than the area the buttonhole foot can do. very reasonable priced for what it can do.
