Although this machine has a good range of stitches - it is just so flimsy - It wobbles about when you sew on it and it is so noisy it sounds like a train. It also does not like sewing heavy material, vinyl or denim and often snaps thread or misses stitches. The automatic tension feature is good though - I would not recommend it and I have now changed to a Pfaff 1530 machine which is much much better.

I bought my Singer 3515 in September 2005 and I'm pretty happy with it. It gets a lot of use, about three days a week. I've only had two problems with it.
One of the the two top bobbins (the spool holders on top of the machine) has broken off, so I have to use the front one, which isn't that big a deal but it's kind of annoying if I ever wanted to use a double needle.
My other complaint is that it seems like the thread breaks a lot when I'm sewing, and I have to rethread the machine several times during sewing. I've not had this problem before so I don't think it's me.
All in all though, for the price it is an excellent machine and I would recommend it to anyone, especially young fashion students looking for a bargain.
