No power machine not moving and light not working
If the light not on, and there is no power to the needle, what can be the fault? and how can I fix it?
Fault finding step be step.
- Firstly, make sure it is switch is on. Check the small on/off switch near the power lead socket. The scoket will usally be located at the side or back of your sewing machine, and the small switch will be close by.
- If the light is not working, and the motor is not spinning, you will need to check the mains power fuse in the 3-pin wall plug. Replace it with the correct 3 amp fuse (check your manual first)
- Push the foot control connection firmly into the machine socket. Wiggle it slightly and push the socket firmly in to the sewing machine connection.
- Some machines will not work if the bulb has blown or not working. Replace the bulb, with a known working one.
- Has anyone, the dog, or large cat tripped on the foot control power lead, and pulled the wires enough to seperate the internall connections in the foot control, or socket ends. The foot control, or power lead will need to be replaced with a know working one.
- If the foot control fails, usually the motor will stop running, but the light will still illuminate...!
- If you own a computerised sewing machine, and have tried all the above. The next step would be testing the mains paower PCB. This PCB is an internal part and is not very accessable to regulare users without engineering knowhow. Yes, the power PCB do fail for time to time. But, we usually find computerised sewing machines very reliable, and the fail rate for internal PCBs is low at about 0.01%
